How I Found Myself After Motherhood…2019-04-30T18:33:51+00:00

How To Thrive In Your Deepest Life’s Purpose and Turn It Into A Thriving Business in Just 30 Minutes A Day…

Dear mama,

If you feel like you’re giving to everybody but yourself…

If you feel like your personal and professional development has ceased…

If you feel like you no longer have time to work on YOU…

We can help.

But first, the bad news.

Mothers are on the most under-valued, underpaid, over-worked and time-crunched members of society.

But we’re raising the future of our world… which also makes us the most important!

What Happened To “Days Off”?

I’m not thrilled about it, but I owe it to you mamas to be honest right now.

You see, while I’m taking care of my little one; running car pools, making meals, fussing with nap times and diaper changes…

… My peers are taking yoga classes, networking, going on dates with their lovers or spouses, and working to build a life of spiritual and financial stability.

It’s hard not to get a little jealous.

This happens to all moms.

Personal development is replaced with childcare.

Professional development is replaced with after-school activities.

And weekends we used to spend recharging?

Let’s just say that most moms who work are pretty excited to get BACK to work on Monday!

Time with our children is rewarding… but emotionally, physically, and professionally challenging – to say the least!

It’s A Bad Situation For Moms Out There…

In America, moms work an average ofΒ 98 hours per week.

Working moms only earn about 65% of what men earn… and as low as 45% if you’re Hispanic.

According to many US Government Research Institutions…

😱 Moms work 270% more hours outside the home than in 1995

😱 At least 30% of single moms live in poverty

😱 Childcare for two kids in some regions equates to overΒ 50%Β of the average provider income…

In a time when mothers are working harderΒ and getting paid much less to care for our families…Β  what time do we have leftover to take care of ourselves?

I’ve been an entrepreneur for 17 years since I started selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door in Chicago.Β  Back then, I thought it was pretty cool that my friends were clocking in to their “9-to-5” jobs while I was my own boss.

But I failed miserably at countless businesses over the past 17 years I’ve been working for myself.

In my 20’s, my life was ravaged by addictions and eating disorders. I never thought I’d carry a baby to term (after four miscarriages), fall in love, or ever make money doing something I love.

I hated myself.Β  I disgusted myself.Β

… And I was killing myself.

My first marriage was abusive and at one point I literally hid in an empty Spin Class for half the afternoon in a 24-hour Fitness, scared for my life.

I Was Sure He’d Kill Me… If I Didn’t Kill Myself First…

In 2009, however, I started to shift.

It’s actually weird how it happened…

I decided to get totally wasted one night on boxed wine and began leaving voicemail messages on every answering machine in Chicago for publishing companies that had posted jobs.

To my surprise, the CEO of a large, very successful publishing company called me back the next day and offered me a job as an assistant with his company.

Little did I know, this opportunity would change my life.

Within a year of starting with the publishing company I was able to find the strength to leave my abusive partner and move to Austin, Texas for work.

I began working in the illustrious online marketing industry making great money… and even greater professional connections.

When I had my son after 6 years in online marketing, I was running my own near-million dollar a-year medicinal tea company.

I was at the top of my game.

But looking into my son’s sweet eyes and smelling that delicious new baby breath, I couldn’t handle working full-time for long.

I sold my company and became a stay at home mom.

That’s When Things Got Bad Again…

After six years of relative stability, my second marriage fell apart.

I was financially dependent on my son’s father and jobless.

In short, I was destitute.

On the first evening my son spent a night with his daddy, I decided to dip my toes back into my formerly illustrious professional life.

I attended a marketing event with 100 other female entrepreneurs.

But I wasn’t an entrepreneur anymore.

No, I wasΒ just a mom.

Or so I thought.

It was in that fateful moment that I knew one thing: I had to take care of me.

My son depended on me.

And I needed to find myself again after motherhood, divorce, and financial ruin.

That’s When I Did Something Crazy..

During the introduction time each member of the group was directed to say who they were and what they do.

I honestly thought they would kick me out for being “just a mom”, not knowing how powerful and successful I’d been in my pre-mom life!

Before the microphone came to me, I meditated in my seat on what my next venture would be.

In my head, I saw images of mothers I’d met who felt:

βœ… Lonely, depressed, isolated, and void of meaning…

βœ… Overworked, overtired, and desperate for self-care…

βœ… Financially strapped and financially dependent on their partners…

βœ… Desperately plugging somebody else’s “team”, when they really wanted to work in their own Zone of Genius…

All these moms… all this pain… and suddenly I knew my purpose in life.

When the microphone came to me, I had my answer.

I Finally Believed In Me…

“Hi, I’m Stephanie, the founder of Moms Wear Capes.Β  We are a community of women who understand that in order to thrive as Supermoms, we must first thrive in our identities as SuperWOMEN.’

I rushed home to secure domain names, social media handles, and create business cards.

Being that I was in the startup capital of the country, I had access to some of the most successful women on the planet.

Over the next six months, I hired 30 life coaches, CEO’s, therapists, healers, celebrities, and coaches to walk me through everything moms needed to thrive in their personal and professional lives…

… and along the way, I received full healing myself from years of spiritual desperation and self-sabotage.

The result of this work is called Moms Wear Capes Academy.

It’s the world’s greatest personal and professional development program designed with MOMS in mind.
